Music Composition and Composer Project

Over the next 5 weeks, the Learning Team will work on the Music Composition and Composer Paper. This paper will involve an analysis of a composition and composer from a specific time period, such as Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or early 20th-century. Listen to the composition several times before you begin. The following are the weekly assignment requirements for the paper and presentation.

  1. In Week Two, the Learning Team will submit their selected composition and composer to the instructor for approval.
  2. In Week Three, the Learning Team will submit an outline and a reference list including at least three peer-reviewed sources for the paper and presentation.
  3. In Week Four, the Learning Team will submit an 8- to 10-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation illustrating the Music Composition and Composer Paper.
  4. In Week Five, the Learning Team will submit a 1,750- to 2,050-word paper analyzing the piece and discussing its composer and time period. Include the following components:

  1. Describe the musicians, instruments, and music you hear.
  2. Indicate what you liked or disliked about the selected piece of music.
  3. Explain any feelings or images the music evoked.
  4. Discuss the features of the music that were most memorable.
  5. Discuss the development of any musical instrument that was significant to the period.
  6. Identify the composer’s background.
  7. Underline the importance of the composition to the composer’s repertoire.
  8. Describe the development of the composition.
